Whether you are in the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of your caregiving journey, and you know that you have been on this journey because you wanted to please your spouse since you knew how much they loved their parents, or you felt obligated because your loved one took care of you, or you needed a job, or a relative or friend owns a long term care community, and you are just doing it to help them out, whatever the case may be, just make sure that caring for a loved one or caring for another person full-time is your decision alone. If you choose to take the caregiving journey for someone else and not because it was what you wanted to do, you will find yourself feeling angry, frustrated, regretful, resentful, and ultimately, very unhappy. Those feelings would not be healthy for you, your family, or the person(s) that you are providing care for. So, remember, before you even think about being a family or professional caregiver, count the costs, pray about it, and seriously seek God first before you do it because obedience is better than sacrifice.
