MARK BUTLER FOUNDATION SERIES: SIMPLE STEPS TO A BETTER RIDING POSITION

This is the first lesson in the Mark Butler Foundation Series and it focuses solely on the rider's position, with simple sculpting techniques to help you improve your overall riding posture. You'll work towards developing a blueprint position in the halt, walk and sitting trot.

This lesson will involve removing your stirrups and holding your reins in one hand at halt and walk, so please make sure that you're comfortable to do this on your horse before riding with this lesson. You may find it helpful to have a helper on the ground. Again, if your horse is happy for you to do so, you will find riding with a whip useful for one of the posture exercises.

Your trainer for this lesson is Mark Butler, a former National Dressage Champion and dressage trainer.

The session is 23 minutes and 8 seconds in length, and is designed to be listened to whilst you are riding your horse.

Important

Lessons are optimised for use in a 20m x 40m arena. You should ensure that you and your horse are warmed up before starting this lesson. Only listen to Sound Schooling audio lessons in a safe, enclosed area, and to your horse's (and your own) level of fitness.
