CHICKEN 65

Bros on the road zig zag between ruin and redemption in this hilarious, psychedelic metaphor for man's existence from the author of the world famous College Application Essay.

Rich Archer is a freelance graphic designer wrapping up a laptop nomad year in Bangkok. When his friend Monteblan flies into town, the two stumble into a secret road rally race running since the Vietnam War era called Chicken 65.

Leaving Bangkok at dawn, racers drive through Thailand and Laos, then into Viet Nam to capture a chicken. The team that brings it back to Bangkok first wins free drinks for life and legendary Chicken 65 status.

Chasing The Chicken, Rich and Monteblan enter perilous, high speed roads through hostile terrain, teeming with rivals, trials, snipers, dynamite, ladyboys, psychedelic mushrooms and mind blowing magic. Far from home, speeding beyond sanity, the two American friends are pushed to their limits while chasing the mythical Chicken.

Will they win? Will they survive?

In Chicken 65, The Bird decides...

YOUR GUIDE

Hugh O'Neil Gallagher
Hugh O'Neil Gallagher is an Irish and American citizen and graduate of New York University. Hugh has written for Rolling Stone, Wired, Harper's, and Newsweek. His world famous College Application Essay is an internet classic.

Hugh's first novel Teeth was published by Simon and Schuster. The Village Voice called Teeth a "funny, beautiful debut." Gore Vidal hailed it as "the dental masterpiece we've all been waiting for." The New York Post called Hugh's writing "a modern art all its own." Teeth was translated into Japanese and published by Sogensha, as well as released in the UK by Victor Gollancz.

Hugh's classic Rolling Stone article "Seven Days and Seven Nights with MTV" was optioned for film and reprinted in Douglas Rushkoff's Gen X Reader. His Wired article "Gimmie Two Records and I'll Make You a Universe" was one of the first feature pieces on DJ culture, and introduced the world to DJ Spooky.

Hugh's writing work with Spike Jonze resulted in the scripts for classic Daft Punk videos "Da Funk", and "Fresh." His TV writing paired him with Stephen Colbert in the famous late night comedian's first show, Exit 57. That work paved the way for Hugh's musical comedy act Von Von Von, which earned a legendary standing ovation at Harlem's Apollo Theater.

Hugh's business career spans two decades, with brand writing for Nike, Adidas, Microsoft, Amazon and the Taipei based tech startup Gogoro. He lived in Europe and the UK for two years while writing for Adidas, and South East Asia for five years, primarily based in Bangkok. Hugh's features for Newsweek-- including coverage of the 2014 coup d'etat in Bangkok-- brought the region alive for English readers around the globe.

Chicken 65 continues that legacy through hilarious fiction, performed with impeccable comic timing. Drawing on his background as the writer/performer of cult comedy monologue Hugh Brown Shu-- recorded by the same label that produced Spalding Gray-- Hugh O'Neil Gallagher brings Chicken 65 to life in hilarious, character rich storytelling.

As a writer interviewed for the Wall Street Journal TV, Douglas Rushkoff's Team Human, and Bangkok television's Beyond The Lines, or a performer seen by millions on Showtime at the Apollo, 30 Seconds of Fame, Maury Povich, and New York City's Cool In Your Code, Hugh O'Neil Gallagher has been celebrated as one of Generation X's most intriguing voices.

Hear that voice now in the wild ride of Chicken 65.
