Theresa Kulikowski-Gillespie
I am a functional medicine physician assistant, mindfulness meditation teacher, author, Army veteran, mother, military spouse, and former elite and collegiate gymnast. As a gymnast, I was a member of the 1995 World Championship Team, became the 1996 Olympic alternate, and a 14-time All-American, all-around, and 2 x balance beam champion at the University of Utah. Following my gymnastics career, I became a physician assistant through the University of Utah's PA program and joined the Army in 2009 as a PA. I served three years in the US Army, deploying to Tikrit, Iraq, and departing military service in 2012. Following my deployment, my health took a steady decline, and my decade-plus long healing journey has brought me into functional medicine and mindfulness meditation. I completed Chris Kresser's ADAPT Functional Medicine Practitioner Program and completed all of the training through the Institute for Functional Medicine. I completed my mindfulness teacher certification in 2021, graduating from Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield's Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program. During my healing journey, I wrote two books on mindfulness, meditation, and holistic wellness for military service members and elite athletes. My first book, Beyond the Battlefield: Stories of Tenacity and Mindful Guidance Along the Warrior's Path, was published in 2022, and my second book, Beyond the Chalk Box: Insight and Inspiration from Olympic Gymnasts, was published in 2024. I am the founder of Fit Intuit where I help others restore health and well-being through functional medicine, guided imagery, and mindfulness.
