The rest scattered like cats in a thunderstorm. If betrayal, cowardice, and scandal disproved the Church… Christianity would’ve ended in the upper room. And yes — we’ve had bad popes, corrupt clergy, compromised leaders. But that’s not a Church issue. That’s a human one. As Frank Herbert put it: It’s not that power corrupts — it’s that the corruptible are drawn to power in every institution: schools, governments, corporations, scouting groups, ministries… Why would the Church be the only place immune? If moral failure disqualified the Church, Christianity would have collapsed before Pentecost. Yes — there have been bad leaders. Yes — there have been scandals. But that isn’t a uniquely religious problem. It’s a human one. Power doesn’t magically corrupt what was pure — the corruptible are often drawn to positions of influence everywhere: governments, schools, corporations, charities… and churches. Here’s the part critics always miss: Despite centuries of sinners, the faith didn’t change. The sacraments didn’t disappear. The teaching didn’t unravel. Grace kept working — often in spite of its messengers. The Church was never meant to be a showroom for the flawless. It’s a place of healing. The Bereans searched the Scriptures daily — therefore sola scriptura!” But the passage actually teaches the opposite. Here’s why ⬇️ 🧠 1. The Bereans were checking for contradiction, not completeness. They weren’t asking, “Is Paul’s teaching already written in this scroll?” They were asking, “Does anything he says contradict what God has already revealed?” They weren’t limiting truth to what was on the page. They were making sure the new apostolic teaching fit with the old revelation. That is not sola scriptura. 🧠 2. The Bereans accepted truths not found in the Scriptures they examined. The very conclusion they reached — that Jesus is the Messiah — is not written explicitly in the passages they searched. Yet they embraced it, because it harmonized with God’s prior revelation. This is the Church’s model: 🔸 Scripture guards against error but 🔸 The Church receives new revelation through the apostles. The Bereans behaved exactly like Catholics, not like proof-texters. 🧠 3. Thessalonica, not Berea, is the picture of sola scriptura. The Thessalonians refused the Gospel because they didn’t see it spelled out in the written text. “If it’s not written here, we reject it.” That is what many modern Protestants call “being faithful to Scripture.” But Acts 17 presents it as hard-heartedness, not fidelity. 🧠 4. Acts 17 is not a manual for a Bible-only Christianity. It’s a story of devout Jews testing new revelation against old revelation — and then accepting the authority of the living apostolic Church when it proved true. Some folks treat honor like a zero-sum pie: If you give *any* honor to Mary or the saints, you must be taking a slice away from Jesus. But Catholics don’t think of glory like pie. We think of it more like a flame. Lighting another candle doesn’t “steal” fire from the first—it fills the room with more light. And that’s the point: when a saint shines, it’s not competition with Christ… it’s evidence that Christ is real, powerful, and still sanctifying people. That’s why the Church uses three different words: • **Latria** = adoration / worship — **God alone** (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) • **Dulia** = honor / veneration — the honor given to God’s friends, His saints • **Hyperdulia** = the *highest* honor beneath worship — given to Mary because she is the Mother of the Son And here’s the easiest analogy: You can honor **Michelangelo** by praising *Michelangelo*… and you can honor him by standing in awe before the **David** or the **Pietà**. Admiring the artwork doesn’t detract from the artist. It magnifies him. Sure… in the same way that “injury is injury.” Scripture is blunt: “There is sin that leads to death… and there is sin that does not.” (1 John 5:16–17) So no—not all sin is the same. Venial sin is real. It wounds love. It fogs the conscience. It’s the slow leak. Mortal sin is real. It breaks communion with God. It’s the engine fire. One is poison that weakens… the other is poison that kills. ]]> Let's Talk Non-Vain Repetition 📜✨ NEW SONG: “NON-VAIN REPETITION” Jesus warned against vain repetition — not prayer that repeats. That distinction matters… a lot. Some people hear Christ’s words in Matthew 6 and assume God dislikes repeated prayers, written prayers, or Christians praying together in unison. But Scripture itself flatly contradicts that reading. The Psalms are repetitive by design. Psalm 136 repeats the same line over and over — “His mercy endures forever” — sometimes mid-sentence. Israel prayed it communally. Loudly. Publicly. On purpose. Even Jesus repeats His own prayer in Gethsemane. The issue was never repetition. The issue was emptiness. I can tell my wife “I love you” a thousand times and mean it every single time. And I can also say the exact same words while halfway out the door, distracted, hollow, and rushed. Same words. This is a re-release of One Holy Family, Undivided—not because the song changed, but because the visuals did. Some people didn’t care for the original art, and over time I’ve found a visual style that fits the theology and tone of these songs much better. This is the artistic direction more of my releases will follow moving forward. But the heart of the song hasn’t changed. This track is about prayer to the saints, and why it’s not only Catholic, but biblical and ancient. The phrase “the Communion of Saints” is professed in the Apostles’ Creed, one of the oldest summaries of Christian belief—written long before later debates about sola scriptura even existed. Those early creeds weren’t trying to cite proof texts; they were confessing what the Church already believed and lived. Scripture presents the Church as one living Body in Christ, united across heaven and earth. Death does not sever that Body. The saints are alive in Christ, aware, interceding, and united to us. Revelation shows their prayers rising before God. Hebrews speaks of a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us. Paul repeatedly asks other Christians to pray for him—because God wants His family to participate in His work. Prayer to the saints doesn’t replace Christ as mediator. It depends entirely on Him. It’s family prayer—within one Body, under one Head. The Islamic Dilemma is one of the rare arguments in religion that doesn’t require you to believe the Bible, accept Christianity, or even believe in God at all. It works entirely on Islam’s own claims about revelation, Scripture, and logic. In short: Islam affirms the earlier Scriptures came from God. Islam affirms that God protects His Word. Islam also claims the Gospel is corrupted. All three cannot be true at the same time. But it actually goes further than that. The Qur’an tells Muhammad himself that if he doubts the revelation he is receiving, he is to verify it by consulting the prior Scriptures (Surah 10:94). That instruction only makes sense if those Scriptures are still intact, still authoritative, and function as the standard of verification. Which means, by the Qur’an’s own logic, the earlier Scriptures sit over the Qur’an — not under it. And once you actually compare them, they don’t align. So the Qur’an fails the very test it tells Muhammad to apply. This isn’t about sincerity. I know many Muslims who genuinely seek to worship the one true God of Abraham, and I don’t doubt that sincerity for a moment. But sincerity doesn’t rescue a revelation that collapses under its own rules. It’s easy. You slightly exaggerate their position. Trim off the nuance. Ignore their strongest thinkers. Then knock down the cartoon version and call it apologetics. I’ve done it. You’ve probably done it. Welcome to the internet. This song is a reminder — mostly to myself — that charity in debate doesn’t just mean “be nice.” It means represent the strongest version of your opponent’s argument before you answer it. That’s what the early Church did. St. Irenaeus didn’t mock the Gnostics with lazy summaries. He painstakingly wrote out their system in detail before dismantling it. He understood them first. St. Thomas Aquinas structured entire objections stronger than his critics did — before offering his response. He built the best version of the argument he disagreed with. That’s intellectual honesty. That’s confidence in truth. Now — does that mean we can’t ever be sharp? No. Jesus used hyperbole. Paul used sarcasm. Caricature has its place. Exaggeration can reveal absurdity. Not because an emperor said so. Not because Rome “stole” anything. But because the tomb was empty on Sunday. The Gospels repeat it. Acts 20:7 shows believers breaking bread on Sunday. 1 Corinthians 16:2 assumes Sunday offerings. Revelation calls it “the Lord’s Day.” And Paul? “Let no one pass judgment on you with regard to a Sabbath… These are a shadow of things to come.” (Colossians 2:16–17) Joshua didn’t give the rest God meant. Hebrews says there was another Day still ahead. CHRIST is our rest. From the Didache (A.D. 90) to Ignatius (A.D. 110) to Justin Martyr (A.D. 150), we see the same pattern: They heard the Scriptures proclaimed. They offered the prayers. That sounds bold. It’s meant to. Celibacy isn’t medieval. It isn’t “forced.” It isn’t anti-marriage. It’s biblical. At Sinai, Israel abstained before the Lord descended. In battle, soldiers restrained themselves under vow. Numbers records women freely binding themselves by vow. Anna lived consecrated in the Temple. Jesus said some can receive celibacy — and if they can, they should. Paul was celibate — and suggested others be, if they were able. And when the Sadducees tried to corner Christ about marriage in the resurrection, He answered plainly: in the age to come, we are neither married nor given in marriage, but like the angels. Marriage is good — for time and flesh. Celibacy says: resurrection’s next. This song isn’t arguing that everyone must be celibate. It’s arguing something simpler: Not everyone. Not forced. But always there. If celibacy feels strange, it’s not because Christianity invented something odd — it’s because modernity trained us out of something ancient. (For the record: I am fairly certain celibacy is not my personal calling. I very much like being married. The Church gives us the raising of Lazarus on the 5th Sunday of Lent — right before Holy Week. Before palms. Before the Passion. Before the empty tomb. And before the command, “Come forth,” there are tears. Jesus knew Lazarus would rise. He knew death would not have the final word. And that’s exactly why the tears matter. He does not weep from ignorance. He weeps because He has entered fully into our condition. He sees the grief. He sees what death does to love. He sees the rupture sin tore into creation. And He does not stand above it untouched. Christianity is not the story of a God who shrugs and says, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” It is the story of a God who says, “I will step into this with you.” Hope doesn’t cancel grief. Foreknowledge doesn’t cancel compassion. Divinity doesn’t cancel humanity. God does not save from a distance. He enters the tomb. ]]> Let's Talk 📜✨ NEW SONG: “You Want The Final Say” — Authority Was Never Meant to Be Optional 📜✨ NEW SONG: “You Want The Final Say” — Authority Was Never Meant to Be Optional A lot of objections to the Catholic Church start with surface-level complaints. Statues. Candles. Mary. Tradition. But if we’re honest, those usually aren’t the real issue. The real issue is authority. The Catholic Church claims something modern Christianity often tries to avoid: the authority Christ gave the apostles didn’t disappear in the first century. It didn’t reset every generation. And it doesn’t belong to whoever happens to be holding a Bible at the moment. Scripture itself points this direction. Hebrews 13:17 tells believers to “obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls.” That verse only makes sense if Christian leadership actually has real authority. Catholics live inside that reality. But in much of modern Christianity, if you disagree with your pastor… you can simply leave. Find another church. Start a new one. Gather a few friends and build a congregation that teaches what you already think the Bible means. That system would have sounded completely foreign to the early Christians. Because Christianity wasn’t built around everyone becoming their own final authority. It was built around a Church that received the faith from the apostles and handed it on. And that’s where the tension really shows up. The Catholic Church refuses to pretend Christianity started in the 1500s… or the 1800s… or last Tuesday. It keeps pointing backward to the early Church, the bishops, the councils, the Church Fathers—because Christianity is something we inherit, not something we reinvent. 🎶 “You Want The Final Say” is a slightly snarky reminder that the biggest objection many people have to the Catholic Church isn’t statues or saints or liturgy. It’s that the Church doesn’t let any of us—me included—be the final authority. And that might be exactly why Christ built it that way. It was a declaration. Most people see a humble moment—Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, crowds waving branches, shouting “Hosanna.” But the people there? The ones who knew their Scriptures? They knew exactly what this meant. Zechariah didn’t just say a king would come. He said the King would come *like this*—humble, riding a donkey… and yet somehow, impossibly, this King is also the Lord who reigns over all the earth. Psalm 118 doesn’t just say “Hosanna.” It tells you who that cry is for. “Save us, Lord.” That word—Hosanna—is a prayer directed to God Himself. And yet… they shouted it at Jesus. Not by accident. Not as a vague hope. But as a recognition. The same crowd lays down palm branches—literally acting out the Psalm: “Bind the festal procession with branches…” This isn’t random. This one is going live right at midnight on Easter, just as the Vigil gives way to Resurrection morning — and as my OCIA people, along with so many others around the world, enter more fully into the joy of the Church’s Alleluia. That felt fitting. Easter is not a random happy ending tacked onto Good Friday. It is the public triumph of Christ the King. Isaiah saw the Suffering Servant. David sang of the righteous one surrounded and afflicted. Jonah pointed to the descent and the third day. Passover was already drawing the lines. And then Easter morning arrived. The stone was not the end of the story. The grave was not the end of the King. Death was not the final word. What looked like defeat was fulfillment. What looked like silence was prophecy waiting to break open. What looked like a sealed tomb became the proof that God keeps His promises. This song is an Easter victory song — bright, celebratory, a little playful, but still catechetical. Not just “Jesus is alive.” But: the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms, the Passion, and the Resurrection all belong to one story. 🎶 “The Grave Is Empty” — for Catholics, converts, Scripture nerds, history lovers, and anyone who wants to see that Easter was written into the story long before the stone was rolled away. The Kingdom of God is at hand—and once it arrives, it doesn’t “vanish” for 1900 years and reappear with a brand-new founder or a brand-new blueprint. Jesus isn’t the guy who starts building a tower and then shrugs at the foundation. He counted the cost. He built what He said He’d build. The Rock struck the statue. The mountain grows. The Kingdom stays. Yes—salvation is real. Yes—the Cross and Resurrection are the way in. Identity. And here’s the part people like to ignore: They knew exactly what He meant. That’s why they picked up stones in John 8. That’s why Caiaphas tears his robes. That’s why Rome gets involved. You don’t execute someone for saying “be nice to your neighbor.” You execute Him for blasphemy. So pick one: He’s lying. He’s insane. Or He’s telling the truth. But “just a good teacher”? That option died about 2,000 years ago. And then Easter happens. The man who made the claim… walks out of His own grave. Now we’re not debating philosophy. You just stop applying it when it gets uncomfortable. You don’t think cakes bake themselves. 🎂 You don’t think phones assemble themselves. 📱 You don’t think something comes from… nothing. 🕳️ But then we get to the universe— and suddenly logic gets a timeout. The Kalam Cosmological Argument is simple: ➡️ Whatever begins to exist has a cause ➡️ The universe began to exist ➡️ Therefore… the universe has a cause No tricks. No theology degree required. Just basic reasoning. 🔭 And here’s the twist: Modern science agrees the universe had a beginning. Which means the cause of the universe must be: ⏳ Not bound by time 🌌 Not made of matter 📍 Not inside the universe Because if it began… it would need a cause too. So when someone says: 🤔 “Then who made God?” They’ve missed the rule. The argument never said everything needs a cause. It says things that begin to exist need a cause. If something never began— if it simply is— then it doesn’t need one. So pick your option: ❌ Something came from absolutely nothing ✅ Something eternal caused everything else One of those is nonsense.
